Exporting and running
A finished picture can leave Mosaicus as a file another C64 program opens, as data for your own code, as a PNG, or as a C64 program that shows it. You can also run it straight away in an emulator or on a real C64.
- ExportingFile ▸ Export…: paint program files, raw data, assembly data, PNGs and the C64 program, and opening exports again.
- Viewer sourceThe C64 program as KickAssembler or ACME source: its memory map, free RAM, and where your own code can go.
- Running on a C64Run ▸ In VICE and On C64 Ultimate: what each needs, and the raster time the status bar shows.
Which one do I want?
| You want | Use |
|---|---|
| To keep working on the picture later | File ▸ Save project (Ctrl+S): see Projects. Exports keep only the picture. |
| To open it in a C64 paint program, or put it on a disk | A file for another C64 program, such as Koala Painter (.koa) |
| To show it on a C64 with nothing else | C64 program (.prg) |
| To use it in a demo, a game or a program of your own | Raw data (.bin), Assembly source (.asm), or the Viewer source to build on |
| To share it online | PNG as shown on screen, at the size and pixel shape you like |
| To see it on a C64 now | Run ▸ In VICE (F5) or Run ▸ On C64 Ultimate (Shift+F5) |
Every export, and every run, takes the picture as it is now: the conversion with your hand edits. Never the sketch layer, the overlays or the checks.
NoteMosaicus offers only the exports that hold the picture exactly. A format of its own (sprites over a bitmap, FLI with sprites, the C64 Ultimate and SuperCPU formats) has no paint program's file, so the Export dialog doesn't list one. Exporting says which files each format gets.
